Ernst Jünger
(Heidelberg 1895 – Riedlingen 1998).

Ernst Jünger was a German writer whose personality and works were strongly influenced by his participation in the First World War.
Jünger is known above all for his books about war experiences including “Storm of Steel”, as well as for his fantasy novels, short stories and various essays he had written

He never joined the National Socialist Party, refusing racist ideology and anti-Semitism and was one of the German officers who conspired against Hitler.
Due to this, and for acquaintances with members of the Resistance Movement against the Nazi Regime, Jünger was expelled from the Nazi Germany armed forces Wehrmacht where he was the Captain, being deemed as “unworthy of military service”.

Although he had not adhered to Nazism and refused racist and anti-Semitic ideology, he was still one of the most controversial authors in Germany.

He was awarded the “ Blauer Max” Pour le Mérite in 1918 and numerous literary awards after World War II.
